Camp Fire Report

These came from an old Monthly Chapter Bulletin from November 1975

Enthusiasm for our annual campout seems to be waning, but each year it seems to produce some unexpected events. Sports activities this year were restricted to Bottle Caps, and Indian Ball. Volleyball has caused too many injuries in the past so it has been listed as a contact sport, the way we played it, and omitted from the activity list. Doesn't that tell us something about our organizations membership? When we couldn't beat the girl scouts last year I knew we were washed up! The weather was super beautiful but there was no moon to light the paths of those who had to make late night of early morning excursions. We'll have to consult lunar charts to avoid this kind of mistake nest year.

After midnight on Saturday the Camp Fire Song Fest degenerated into a story telling round table, and a popcorn popping contest. Paul Fair won the popcorn contest with about a 50% yield. No one could judge the story telling because too many of the stories were incomprehensive and the others were just plain "Bad"! The story telling was hilarious even though most of stories were not exceptionally humorous.

Sunday mornings afterglow was still glowing at noon but by that time only a few die-hards remained and activities were reduced to singing. It was a pleasant, sociable, and enjoyable weekend and its too bad some members were unable to make it! Maybe next year will be a 100% attendance year.
