In Memoriam (from 2003 Show Program Book)

Fred Mueller died on January 10, 2003 of congestive heart failure. A chapter member for twenty years, Fred was one our most beloved members and had an immense influence on this chapter. Although he had not been active with us recently because of his illness, his passing was a tremendous loss to us.

From the beginning, Fred established himself as an extremely competent baritone and was a key member of our chorus. He had a passion for singing correctly and as well as possible which spread to the entire chorus. He took an active part in the affairs of the chapter. He frequently served on the Board of Directors and held most of the offices at one time or another. He also sang with the Florissant Valley Four Quartet for sixteen years. One of Fred's most notable and popular accomplishments was his ability to sing the second chorus of "Silent Night" in German at Christmas performances.

A native of St. Louis, Fred served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a trombone player in the AAC Band. He continued to play this instrument after the war. In addition to being a Barbershopper, Fred was a dedicated member of his church choir. After leaving the service, Fred worked for Jolene Shoe company, and later for Proctor & Gamble, from which he retired after thirty two years.

Fred was an extraordinarily dedicated barbershopper who made a huge contribution to this chapter. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by every member of Florissant Valley. We are proud to present this show in his Memory.

Goodbye old friend - Thanks for the Memories
