A perfect
gentleman .....
Jack's love of singing was a lifelong
passion. As a young lad he began singing with his brother and some
friends and never quit. He discovered Barbershop somewhat later in
life and was an active participant for as long as his health
permitted. He was one of the most unassuming, yet effective people I
have ever met. His sense of commitment to anything he agreed to do
was complete - as demonstrated in his career, his civic involvement
in the Traffic Commission and the Fine Arts Council, as a docent at
St. Ferdinand Shrine, his hobbies such as Barbershop and most of all
to his faith and family. In Barbershop he served as President, Music
VP, and Secretary and was the Baritone Section Leader. He took on
the mundane task of developing and maintaining the mailing list and
organizing the advertising sales program for the show program. Along
with the many activities within our Chapter, he served as the
Secretary of the Area Council for the Barbershoppers and was a
Chapter Coach for several other Chapters in the Society. He did
everything from the "hands-on" work to the strategic
planning, bringing good ideas and common sense to them all. It has
been a distinct privilege to get to know, to work with, to enjoy
humor and to sing with this man who, in it all, was a perfect
gentleman.
